Pop-Up Community COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics

The following message is from the Middlesex-London Health Unit:

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Vaccination against COVID-19 is the single most important thing we can all do to protect ourselves and our community from the ongoing pandemic. With that in mind, the Middlesex-London Health Unit has partnered with the Thames Valley District School Board and the London District Catholic School Board to offer Pop-Up Community Clinics for youth and their families. These clinics are intended to provide an opportunity for those who have been unable to attend a mass vaccination clinic in London or Middlesex County to receive their first dose of vaccine.

This letter includes a list of the upcoming Pop-Up Community Clinics, and the dates and times when they will be held. Your child does not have to attend the school where the clinic is being held in order for members of your family to book an appointment. You are welcome to book an appointment at the clinic that is most convenient for your family.

Here’s how to book an appointment:

Some key things to keep in mind when booking and preparing for the vaccination appointment at a Pop-up Community Clinic:

  • All those attending the clinics must be 12 years of age or older on the day of their vaccine appointment. However, the appointment may be booked prior to their 12th birthday.
  • Be sure to bring identification for each person being vaccinated, which includes their date of birth (such as a health card, passport or birth certificate) when you come to the clinic.
  • While it is not required, a parent, guardian, or caregiver can accompany a child to their vaccination appointment.

Tips for families who are looking to book as a group:

  • Parents, guardians, and caregivers who have not yet been vaccinated are also encouraged to book a first dose appointment. Try booking appointments for your family using multiple devices at the same time.
  • Each member of your group or family will need a separate vaccination appointment.
  • Please note that second dose appointments will be booked automatically at the clinic.

For more information about the COVID-19 vaccine, please visit the Middlesex-London Health Unit’s website at www.healthunit.com, or read the MLHU’s Guide to Vaccination for Youth Aged 12-17: www.healthunit.com/uploads/guide-to-covid-19-vaccination-for-youth-aged-12-17.pdf

Make sure your child has a big meal, drinks lots of water and wears a short sleeve shirt when they come for their vaccination appointment. They may also want to bring their favourite device with them (with headphones) to help them relax!

Sincerely, Dr. Christopher Mackie
